Valerian Root may have a sedative effect, anticonvulsant, antianxiety and antidepressant properties. It may also relieve anxiety, nervousness, exhaustion, headaches and hysteria. It is used and may relax and strengthen the uterus.
Valerian Root herb is most commonly used for and may address sleep disorders, especially the inability to sleep (insomnia). It is frequently combined with blue vervain, german chamomile, or other herbs that also may cause drowsiness. This herb is also used for and may address conditions connected to anxiety and psychological stress including nervous asthma, hysterical states, excitability, fear of illness (hypochondria), headaches, migraine, and stomach upsets. Some people use valerian for and may address depression, mild tremors, epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Valerian is used for and, may address muscle and joint pain. Some women use valerian for and may address menstrual cramps and symptoms associated with menopause, including hot flashes and anxiety.
